Find the characters ordinary editors cannot show
Fingerprint-style text watermarks hide information in Unicode characters that have no visible glyph or look like ordinary spacing. They can survive copying between documents, messages, and websites. This scanner groups adjacent markers into suspected sequences and also reports the exact number of hidden marker characters found.
Cleaning removes zero-width formatting marks, unusual invisible spacing runs, bidirectional controls, Unicode tag characters, and variation-selector patterns used for text steganography. When invisible spacing sits between visible words or sentences, it is reduced to one normal space so the readable text does not get joined together.
Detection is intentionally described as suspected rather than certain. Unicode includes legitimate invisible formatting for emoji and multilingual scripts, while other fingerprinting methods alter word choice or swap visible look-alike letters. Automatically rewriting those cases would damage valid content, so the tool focuses on markers that can be removed predictably.
