Cursive text using Unicode mathematical script
Cursive text generators produce flowing, handwriting-style letters by substituting each character with its Unicode Mathematical Script counterpart - a becomes 𝒶 (U+1D4B6). It is not a font and not a formatting option, which is precisely why it works: the cursive appearance is baked into the character itself, so it travels with the text into any bio field, message box, or username that a real font could never reach.
Mathematicians are the accidental reason this exists. Script capitals have long been used in academic notation - ℒ for a Lagrangian, ℱ for a Fourier transform, 𝒫 for a power set - so Unicode encoded a full script alphabet to make those papers machine-readable. Social media then adopted the block for aesthetic profiles, where it now appears under tags like fancy text, calligraphy font, and aesthetic bio font.
There are two available styles:
- 𝒮𝒸𝓇𝒾𝓅𝓉 Text - elegant, thin script letters (U+1D49C block). Great for a refined, calligraphic aesthetic.
- 𝓑𝓸𝓵𝓭 𝓢𝓬𝓻𝓲𝓹𝓽 - the same style but with heavier strokes (U+1D4D0 block). More dramatic and visible at small sizes.

Why some cursive letters look out of place
The script block has holes in it. Eight capitals and two lowercase letters were already encoded years earlier in the Letterlike Symbols block, and Unicode refuses to encode the same character twice - so B, E, F, H, I, L, M, R, plus lowercase e, g, and o live at scattered code points such as ℬ, ℰ, ℱ, ℋ, ℐ, ℒ, ℳ, ℛ, ℯ, ℊ, and ℴ. Generators that ignore these gaps emit blank boxes on those letters. This one uses the canonical substitutes, so every letter renders.
The practical limits are worth knowing before you commit to a bio. Only basic Latin A–Z and a–z have script forms - digits, punctuation, accented letters, and emoji have none and pass through in ordinary type, which is why a cursive name with a number in it looks half-converted. Script capitals are also harder to read at small sizes than sans-serif ones, and 𝐼, 𝒥, and 𝒯 are easily confused, so cursive works better for a name or short phrase than for a paragraph.
Two more caveats: screen readers may announce these as mathematical symbols rather than letters, and most platform search indexes treat 𝒮𝒶𝓇𝒶𝒽 and Sarah as unrelated strings, so a fully cursive handle can make you harder to find. Keep hashtags and searchable names in plain text and use script for decoration around them.
